The exercise realized by participation in sports strengthens your heart, bones, and joints. It reduces stress. Unfortunately, sports can all too often result in injuries. Commonly injured are ankles, knees, shoulders, elbows, and spine. You should discuss any exercise program with our doctors of chiropractic, before undertaking such activities.
The most commonly injured structures are muscles, tendons, and ligaments. A sudden twisting or overextension of a joint can cause tears of muscles and tendons (referred to as a strain), and tears of ligaments (sprain). Such tears can be mild, where a few muscle fibers are hurt, or severe, where there is a tear through the full thickness of the structure. The latter are often considered unstable injuries and usually require surgical correction.
The discs between the vertebra are vulnerable to injury, as well, sometimes resulting in bulging or herniated discs.
Binder Family Chiropractic has the experience and expertise to help the healing process in your mild sports injuries.
